It was one of those weekends where we didn’t have anything planned, the best kind in my book. But sometimes having all of this freedom paralyzes us to the point where we can’t make a decision on what to do – too many options I suppose. And today was one of those moments.
After humming and hawing, we hopped in the car to head to the big box home improvement store to start some house projects. However, the reality was neither one of us really felt like doing any house projects. So with one turn of the steering wheel we said screw the projects, we’re going exploring.
We are big on parks in our family and we’ve always liked visiting new ones. So we set on a course to try a new county park, a mere 30 minutes away. We weren’t dressed appropriately. We didn’t pack everything we would have had we planned. But it was beautiful. It was unexpected. And it was so much more enjoyable than picking out driveway sealer.
Sometimes we so easily forget to explore our own backyard. We think we’ve seen it all or it’s not special enough unless it’s a vacation away on an airplane. But there are hidden gems all around us. And today I feel like we found one.
So next time you’re on the path to go right, go ahead and take that left. I guarantee you’ll have more fun.
Happy Travels to You!
