My Story

I believe in travel. I believe it can change one’s perspective. I believe it can inspire you in ways you never imagined. And I believe in passing down this love of travel to my kids.

I’m Krista, the mother of two amazing little kiddos (5 and 2). And before they were born, I thought standing on top of the world would be my most inspiring experience in life. I’ve now learned it’s my second.

I was fortunate to grow up with parents that valued family vacations. It’s one of the things I’m most grateful to my parents for. I remember camping out west in our Jayco pop-up taking drives through the mountains and exploring national parks.  Or leaving at 2am to drive down to New Smyrna Beach so that my sister and I could sleep on the long drive from Wisconsin to Florida.  I remember New Year’s Eve at Disney World, watching Chicago on Broadway in NYC and touring Gettysburg.

It was all of these experiences that led me to explore my options in college.  My junior year I decided to study abroad in Scotland and backpacked through Europe.  After that I had a bad case of the travel bug and couldn’t wait for the next chance to go abroad.  After lots of searching, I landed an internship in Sweden after college.  There I was moving to another country where I didn’t speak the language and didn’t know a soul.

Travel is a place where I have always felt most like myself.  It’s brings this indescribable spark that leaves you always wanting more. But at the same time, it makes you content to just sit and gaze at the beauty of the world.

While as parents we have many hopes for our children, one of mine is to instill a love of travel in them while they’re young.  I’ve made a commitment to travel with my kiddos whenever possible.   If I have the choice to go on a vacation or update our blue kitchen counter tops, I’ll choose the vacation every time.

I’m not claiming to be an expert traveler.  There are families who have experienced far more adventures with their tikes traveling than me.  I’m just your average mom who happens to love traveling and didn’t want that to stop once I had kids.  Perhaps one of my stories will inspire you to take that trip.

Happy Travels to You!
