Kind Kids and Travel

Whenever I read anything regarding a connection between kids and travel, I'm hooked. This morning I ran across an article from the TODAY Parenting team. Want to Raise Kind Kids?  Travel With Them is what they say. It reinforced everything I'm trying to do with our travels with our daughter. It talked about the difference between a vacation and a trip - the article isn't referring to the all-out Disney vacations. It talks more about the power of a visit to one of our national parks, the perspective that changes while witnessing nature's majestic beauty and the ability to slow down and disconnect from life.

A lot of parents shy away from taking a vacation with an infant or toddler for the mere fact of thinking it won't be an enjoyable experience.  Won't in be too stressful traveling with a toddler? Why spend all the money when you can't even do everything?  Why put yourself through the stress?  Wait until they're older they all say - they're too little to remember it.  In fact, in preparing to plan our first vacation with our daughter, a co-worker pretty much thought I was crazy.
